The order of the emanation of the female

Synopsis

This section tells of the creation of the female from Tiferet of Zeir Anpin; this Tiferet is encompassed in mercy and judgment. Rabbi Shimon lists the five types of impropriety revealed in the female from the side of the five judgments.

304. In the image of man, the wholeness of male and female began to be prepared, THAT IS ZEIR ANPIN THAT INCLUDES MALE AND FEMALE. AFTERWARDS, when the form OF MAN was prepared in his Corrections (formations), ZEIR ANPIN began TO SPREAD from his chest, between his two arms, in the area where his beard hairs hang, SINCE THIS AREA is referred to as Tiferet. This Tiferet spread and prepared two chests, and then took to the back and made the skull of the female, WHICH IS MALCHUT. She is totally concealed from all sides, the hair and the facial countenance of the head. These MALE AND FEMALE as one were made by Tiferet, and male and female are referred to as man, as it is written: "According to the beauty (Heb. Tiferet) of a man; that it may remain in a house" (Yeshayah 44:13).

304. בְּהַאי דִּיּוּקְנָא דְּאָדָם, שַׁארִי וְתָקִין כְּלָלָא דְּכַר וְנוּקְבָּא. כַּד אִתְתָּקַּן הַאי דִּיּוּקְנָא בְּתִקּוּנוֹי, שָׁארִי מֵחַדּוֹי, מִבֵּין תְּרֵין דְּרוֹעִין. בְּאֲתָר דְּתַּלְיָין שַׂעְרֵי דְּדִיקְנָא, דְּאִתְקְרֵי תִּפְאֶרֶת. וְאִתְפָּשַּׁט הַאי תִּפְאֶרֶת, וְתָקִין תְּרֵין חַדִּין, וְאִשְׁתְּלַיף לַאֲחוֹרוֹי, וְעֲבַד גּוּלְגַלְתָּא דְּנוּקְבָּא. כֹּלָּא סְתִימָא מִכָּל סִטְרוֹי. בְּשַׂעְרָא בְּפַרְצוּפָא דְּרֵישָׁא. וּבִכְלָלָא חֲדָא אִתְעָבֵידוּ בְּהַאי תִּפְאֶרֶת, וְאִקְרֵי אָדָם דְּכַר וְנוּקְבָּא. הה"ד כְּתִפְאֶרֶת אָדָם לָשֶׁבֶת בָּיִת.

305. When the facial countenance of the female head was created, a lock of hair hung in the back of Zeir Anpin and hung until the head of the female and her head hairs were roused, all red consisting of all colors. This is what is written: "And the hair of your head like purple" (Shir Hashirim 7:6). What is "purple?" It is colors blended inclusively within hues.

305. כַּד אִתְבְּרֵי פַּרְצוּפָא דְּרֵישָׁא דְּנוּקְבָּא, תַּלְיָיא חַד קוֹצָא דְּשַׂעְרֵי מֵאֲחוֹרוֹי דִּזְעֵיר אַפִּין, וְתָלֵי עַד רֵישָׁא דְּנוּקְבָּא. וְאִתְּעֲרוּ שַׂעְרֵי בְּרֵישָהָא, כֻּלְּהוּ סוּמָקֵי דִּכְלִלָן בְּגוֹ גְּוָונֵי, הה"ד, וְדַלַּת רֹאשֵׁךְ כָּאַרְגָמָן. מַהוּ אַרְגָּמָן. גְּוָונֵי דִּכְלִילָן בְּגוֹ גְּוָונֵי.

Female Heart

306. We have learned that Tiferet spreads from the center of the heart, FROM THE CAVITY OF THE CHEST, permeates and crosses to the other side, MEANING THE BACK, and fixes the countenance of the female to the center. She starts at the center and ends at the center.

306. תָּאנָא, אִתְפָּשַׁט הַאי תִּפְאֶרֶת מִטַבּוּרָא דְּלִבָּא, וְנָקִיב וְאִתְעֲבָר בְּגִיסָא אַחֲרָא, וְתָקִין פַּרְצוּפָא דְּנוּקְבָּא עַד טַבּוּרָא. וּמִטַבּוּרָא שָׁארִי, וּבְטַבּוּרָא שְׁלִים.

307. Tiferet further expanded and the intestines of the male were prepared. it put into that area all the mercy and every facet of compassion. We have learned that six hundred thousand times ten thousand creatures of compassion are attached to these intestines, and they are referred to as intestinal beings, as it is written: "'Therefore My inward parts are moved for him; I will surely have mercy on him,' says Hashem" (Yirmeyah 31:19).

307. תּוּ אִתְפְּשָׁט הַאי תִּפְאֶרֶת, וְאַתְקִן מֵעוֹי דִּדְכוּרָא, וְעָיֵיל בְּהַאי אֲתָר כָּל רַחֲמִין, וְכָל סִטְרָא דְּרַחֲמֵי. וְתָאנָא, בְּהָנֵי מֵיעַיין אִתְאַחֲדָן, שִׁית מֵאָה אֶלֶף רִבּוֹא מָארֵי דְּרַחֲמֵי. וְאִתְקְרוּן בַּעֲלֵי מֵיעַיין. דִּכְתִּיב, עַל כֵּן הָמוּ מֵעַי לוֹ רַחֵם אַרַחֲמֶנוּ נְאֻם יְיָ.'

308. We have learned that Tiferet is encompassed in mercy and encompassed in judgment. Mercy permeates in THE BRAINS OF the male, THAT IS ZEIR ANPIN AS MENTIONED ABOVE, and crosses and illuminates the other side, MEANING THE BACK OF ZEIR ANPIN. It prepares the intestines of the female, MEANING HER MOCHIN, and her intestines are established by the side of judgment.

308. תָּאנָא, הַאי תִּפְאֶרֶת, כָּלִיל בְּרַחֲמֵי, וְכָלִיל בְּדִינָא, וְאִתְפָּשַּׁט רַחֲמֵי בִּדְכוּרָא, וְאִתְעֲבָר וְנָהִיר לִסְטַר אַחֲרָא, וְתָקִין מֵיעוֹי דְּנוּקְבָּא, וְאִתְתְּקָנוּ מְעָהָא בְּסִטְרָא דְּדִינָא.

309. We have learned that the male, WHICH IS ZEIR ANPIN, was prepared on his side, WHICH IS THE RIGHT, in 248 Corrections (formations) that are included in him. Some of them are in the innermost OF ZEIR ANPIN and some on his exterior side. Some of them are compassionate and some of them judgmental. All of those that are judgmental were attached to the judgments in the back OF ZEIR ANPIN where the female expands, and they joined together and spread on her side.

309. תָּאנָא, אִתְתָּקַן דְּכוּרָא בְּסִטְרֵיה, בְּמָאתָן וּתְמַנְיָא וְאַרְבְּעִין תִּקּוּנִין דִּכְלִילָן בֵּיהּ, וּמִנְהוֹן לְגוֹ, וּמִנְּהוֹן לְבַר. מִנְּהוֹן רַחֲמֵי. וּמִנְּהוֹן דִּינָא. כֻּלְּהוּ דְּדִינָא, אִתְאֲחָדוּ בְּדִינָא דַּאֲחוֹרוֹי, דְּנוּקְבָּא אִתְפַּשָּׁטַת תַּמָּן. וְאִתְאַחֲדוּ וְאִתְפָּשָׁטוּ בְּסִטְרָהָא.

310. We have learned that five types of impropriety were revealed in her from the side of the five judgments. Five judgments were dispersed in 248 paths, as we have learned. Hearing a woman's voice is an impropriety, the sight of a woman's hair is an impropriety, the sight of a woman's thigh is an impropriety, the sight of a woman's hand is an impropriety and the sight of a woman's foot is an impropriety. These two, HAND AND FOOT, our friends did not learn; HOWEVER, these two are even more than an impropriety.

310. וְתָאנָא, חֲמִשָׁה עֶרְיָיתָא אִתְגַּלְּיָין בָּה, בְּסִטְרָא דְּדִינִין חֲמִשָּׁה. וְדִינִין ה' אִתְפַּשְּׁטָן, בְּמָאתָן וְאַרְבְּעִין וּתְמַנְיָא אָרְחִין. וְהָכִי תָּאנָא, קוֹל בְּאִשָּׁה עֶרְוָה. שֵׂעָר בְּאִשָּׁה עֶרְוָה. שׁוֹק בְּאִשָּׁה עֶרְוָה. יַד בְּאִשָּׁה עֶרְוָה. רֶגֶל בְּאִשָּׁה עֶרְוָה. דאע"ג דִּתְרֵין אִלֵּין לָא שַׁנְיוּהָ חַבְרָנָא, וּתְרֵין אִלֵּין יַתִּיר מֵעֶרְוָה אִינּוּן.
