The thirteen Corrections (formations) of the beard
Rabbi Shimon tells what he learned in the Hidden Book about the most hidden and concealed precious supreme beard of Arich Anpin; that beard is the universal faith within which flow thirteen springs. He describes the thirteen Corrections (formations) of the beard. The thirteen Corrections (formations) that depend on the precious beard are available in the universe in the seventh month during the ten days of repentance.
72. Rabbi Shimon began by saying: Woe to the person that extends his hand to the precious supreme beard of the holy old man, WHO IS ARICH ANPIN, who is hidden and concealed from all. The beard of that praise, the beard concealed and most precious of any of His forms OF ARICH ANPIN, the beard THAT IS not known to the higher and lower beings, the beard that is the praise of all praises, the beard which could be neither approached nor seen by any prophet or holy man, the beard that hangs by its hair to the center of the heart is white as snow, most precious of all, most concealed of anything concealed, the faith of universal Faith.
72. פָּתַח ר"ש וְאָמַר, וַוי מַאן דְּאוֹשִׁיט יְדוֹי בְּדִיקְנָא יַקִּירָא עִלָּאָה, דְּסָבָא קַדִּישָׁא, טָמִיר וְסָתִים מִכֹּלָּא דִּיקְנָא דְּהַהִיא תּוּשְׁבַּחְתָּא. דִּיקְנָא דְּסָתִים וְיַקִּיר מִכָּל תִּקּוּנוֹי. דִּיקְנָא דְּלָא יַדְעִין עִלָּאִין וְתַתָּאִין. דִּיקְנָא דְּהִיא תּוּשְׁבַּחְתָּא דְּכָל תּוּשְׁבָּחִין. דִּיקְנָא דְּלָא הֲוֵי בַּר נָשׁ נְבִיאָה וְקַדִּישָׁא דְּיִקְרַב לְמֵחֱמֵי לֵיהּ. דִּיקְנָא דְּהִיא תַּלְיָיא בְּשַׂעֲרוֹי עַד טַבּוּרָא דְּלִבָּא. חִוָּורָא כְּתַלְגָּא יַקִּירָא דְּיַקִּירִין. טְמִירָא דִּטְמִירִין. מְהֵימְנוּתָא דִּמְהֵימְנוּתָא דְּכֹלָּא.
73. We have learned in the hidden book that that beard, which is the universal Faith, starts UNDERNEATH his ears and descends down around the holy mouth. It lowers and proceeds upward to cover with offering of fine fragrance the white and the precious, MEANING IT COVERS THE SKIN OF THE FACE OF ARICH ANPIN, WHICH IS WHITE, and at the same time lowers and covers up to the center OF THE HEART. This is the precious beard, the perfect faith, within which flow thirteen springs that stream forth from the goodly anointing oil. In thirteen Corrections (formations) it is established.
73. תָּאנָא, בִּצְנִיעוּתָא דְּסִפְרָא, דְּהַאי דִּיקְנָא מְהֵימְנוּתָא דְּכֹלָּא, נָפִיק מֵאוּדְנוֹי, וְנָחִית סוֹחֲרָנֵיהּ דְּפוּמָא קַדִּישָׁא, וְנָחִית וְסָלִיק וְחָפֵי, בְּתַקְרוּבְתָּא דְּבוּסְמָא טָבָא, חִוָּורָא דְּיַקִּירָא. וְנָחִית בְּשִׁקּוּלָא, וְחָפֵי עַד טַבּוּרָא. הוּא דִּיקְנָא יַקִּירָא, מְהֵימָנָא שְׁלֵימָא, דְּנַגְדִּין בֵּיהּ י"ג נְבִיעִין, מַבּוּעִין דִּמְשַׁח רְבוּת טָבָא, בִּתְלַת עֲשַׂר תִּקּוּנִין מִתְתַּקְּנָא.
74. The first Correction (formation) OF THE THIRTEEN CONSTRUCTIONS OF THE BEARD: The hairs are formed above and originate from that style of the hair on the head that ascends, in form, above his ears and descends in front of the opening of the ears with one strand in good measure to the beginning of the mouth. THE EXPLANATION FOLLOWS.
74. תִּקּוּנָא קַדְמָאָה. מִתְתַּקֵּן שַׂעֲרָא מִלְּעֵילָּא, וְשָׁארִי מֵהַהוּא תִּקּוּנָא דִּשְׂעַר רֵישֵׁיהּ, דְּסָלִיק בְּתִקּוּנוֹי לְעֵילָּא מֵאוּדְנוֹי, וְנָחִית מִקַּמֵּי פִּתְחָא דְּאוּדְנִין, בְּחַד חוּטָא בְּשִׁקּוּלָא טָבָא, עַד רֵישָׁא דְּפוּמָא.
76. The third Correction (formation): From underneath the center of the nose, below the two openings OF THE NOSE, one path follows out. The hairs cease from that path and it is full of hair on both sides OF THIS PATH, in perfect shape, surrounding this path.
76. תִּקּוּנָא תְּלִיתָאָה. מֵאֶמְצָעִיתָא דִּתְחוֹת חוֹטָמָא, מִתְּחוֹת תְּרֵין נוּקְבִין, נָפִיק חַד אוֹרְחָא, וְשַׂעֲרָא אִתְפְּסַק בְּהַהוּא אָרְחָא, וּמַלְיָא מֵהַאי גִּיסָא, וּמֵהַאי גִּיסָא שַׂעֲרָא, מְתִקּוּנָא שְׁלִים סוֹחֲרָנֵיהּ דְּהַהוּא אוֹרְחָא.
77. The fourth Correction (formation): The hair underneath the mouth from one point to the other point forms in a harmoniously perfect shape. THAT IS THE ONE CALLED THE BEARD ON THE POINTED END OF THE CHIN.
77. תִּקּוּנָא רְבִיעָאָה. מִתְתָּקַּן שַׂעֲרָא תְּחוֹת פּוּמָא, מֵרֵישָׁא חֲדָא לְרֵישָׁא חֲדָא, בְּתִקּוּנָא שְׁלִים.
78. The fifth Correction (formation): Underneath the mouth goes forth another path counterbalancing IN CONFORMITY the upper path, UNDER THE NOSE. Those two paths are distinguished on both sides of the mouth, THE UPPER PATH ABOVE THE MOUTH AND THE LOWER PATH UNDERNEATH THE MOUTH.
78. תִּקּוּנָא חֲמִישָׁאָה. תְּחוֹת פּוּמָא נָפִיק אָרְחָא אַחֲרָא, בְּשִׁקּוּלָא דְּאָרְחָא דִּלְעֵילָּא, וְאִלֵּין תְּרֵין אָרְחִין רְשִׁימִין עַל פּוּמָא, מִכָּאן מִכָּאן.
79. The sixth Correction (formation): The hairs are shaped upwards and go forth from the lower to the upper point of the mouth and cover the precious offering of fine fragrances to the top of the mouth above. The hair descends FROM THERE to the starting point of the lower opening BELOW the mouth.
79. תִּקּוּנָא שְׁתִּיתָאָה. מִתְתַּקֵּן שַׂעֲרָא, וְסָלִיק וְנָפִיק מִלְּרַע לְעֵיל לְרֵישָׁא דְּפוּמָא. וְחָפֵי תַּקְרוּבְתָּא דְּבוּסְמָא טָבָא, עַד רֵישָׁא דְּפוּמָא דִּלְעֵילָּא. וְנָחִית שַׂעֲרָא לְרֵישָׁא דְּפִתְחָא דְּאוֹרְחָא תַּתָּאָה דְּפוּמָא.
80. The seventh Correction (formation): The hairs stop FROM GROWING and two parts of the faces are visible, THAT IS - THE RIGHT FACE AND THE LEFT FACE, WITHOUT THE HAIR, with an offering of good and pleasant smells, good and pleasing in appearance. The universe exists because of them and this is what is written: "In the light of the king's countenance is life" (Mishlei 16:15).
80. תִּקּוּנָא שְׁבִיעָאָה. פָּסִיק שַׂעֲרָא, וְאִתְחָזֻן תְּרֵין תַּפּוּחִין, בְּתַקְרוּבְתָּא דְּבוּסְמָא טָבָא, שַׁפִּירָן וְיָאָן לְמֵחֱזֵי. בְּגִינֵיהוֹן אִתְקְיָים עָלְמָא, הה"ד בְּאוֹר פְּנֵי מֶלֶךְ חַיִּים.
82. The ninth Correction (formation): THE HAIR is roused, and the beard gets blended with the hairs that hang IN THE THROAT AND ARE balanced, MEANING IN EQUAL MEASURE, and do not extrude from one another.
82. תִּקּוּנָא תְּשִׁיעָאָה. מִתְעָרֵי וּמִתְעָרְבִין שַׂעְרֵי דִּיקְנָא, עִם אִינּוּן שַׂעְרֵי דְּתַלְיָין בְּשִׁקּוּלָא, וְלָא נַפְקֵי דָּא מִן דָּא.
85. The twelfth Correction (formation): No hair hangs over the mouth and the mouth opening is clear OF ALL HAIR from all sides. And all around it, the hair looks nice.
85. תִּקּוּנָא תְּרֵיסָר. דְּלָא תַּלְיָין שַׂעְרֵי עַל פּוּמָא, וּפוּמָא אִתְפְּנֵי מִכָּל סִטְרוֹי. וְיָאָן שַׂעְרֵי סְחוֹר סְחוֹר לֵיהּ.
86. The thirteenth Correction (formation): The hair hangs underneath the beard from each side, MEANING THE WHOLE AREA OF THE HAIR UNDER THE BACK OF THE BEARD, with a pleasing glory, a handsome glory, covering to the center OF THE HEART. So the fragrant offering is not seen by anyone, save this beautifully white face that bestows life to the universe and shows joy to Zeir Anpin.
86. תִּקּוּנָא תְּלֵיסַר. דְּתַלְיָין שַׂעַרָן בִּתְחוֹת דִּיקְנָא, מִכָּאן וּמִכָּאן, בִּיקָרָא יָאָה, בִּיקָרָא שַׁפִּירָא. מְחַפְּיָין עַד טַבּוּרָא. לָא אִתְחֲזֵי מִכָּל אַנְפֵּי תַּקְרוּבָא דְּבוּסְמָא, בַּר אִינּוּן תַּפּוּחִין שַׁפִּירִין חִוָּורִין, דְּמַפִּקִין חַיִּין לְעָלְמָא, וּמְחַזְיָין חֵדוּ לִזְעֵיר אַפִּין.
87. With these thirteen Corrections (formations) (formations) flow forth thirteen springs of anointing oil which reach all those below. They illuminate from this oil and anoint with that oil that is comprised of these thirteen sets. With these thirteen Corrections (formations) (formations), the concealed glorious beard of the most Ancient One becomes distinguished, THAT IS ARICH ANPIN. From the two precious circles of His face, the face of Zeir Anpin brightens up and every knob and flower, MEANING ALL VARIOUS GRADES, that exist below brighten and glow from that light above. These thirteen Corrections (formations) (formations) occur in the beard and with the perfection of the beard through its shapes, man is called faithful, since everyone who sees his beard ascribes faith to him.
87. בִּתְלֵיסָר תִּקּוּנִין אִלֵּין, נַגְדִּין וְנָפְקִין תְּלֵיסַר מַבּוּעִין דִּמְשַׁח רְבוּת, וְנַגְדִּין לְכָל אִינּוּן דִּלְתַּתָּא. וּנְהִרִין בְּהַהוּא מִשְׁחָא. וּמְשִׁיחִין מֵהַהוּא מִשְׁחָא, דְּבִתְלֵיסָר תִּקּוּנִין אִלֵּין. בִּתְלֵיסָר תִּקּוּנִין אִלֵּין אִתְרְשִׁים דִּיקְנָא יַקִּירָא, סְתִימָאָה דְּכֹלָּא, דְּעַתִּיק דְּעַתִּיקִין. מִתְּרֵי תַּפּוּחִין שַׁפִּירָן דְּאַנְפּוֹי, נְהִירִין אַנְפּוֹי דִּזְעֵיר אַנְפִּין, וְכָל חֵיזוּר וְשׁוּשָן דְּאִשְתַּכְחָן לְתַתָּא, נְהִירִין וּמִתְלַהֲטִין מֵהַהוּא נְהוֹרָא דִּלְעֵילָּא. תִּקּוּנִין תְּלֵיסַר אִלֵּין, אִשְׁתְּכָחוּ בְּדִיקְנָא, וּבִשְׁלֵימוּת דִּיקְנָא בְּתִקּוּנוֹי, אִתְקְרֵי בַּר נָשׁ נֶאֱמָן. דְּכָל דְּחָמֵי דִּיקְנֵיהּ, תָּלֵי בֵּיהּ מְהֵימְנוּתָא.
88. We have learned in the concealed book these thirteen Corrections (formations) that depend on the precious beard exist in the world in the seventh MONTH THAT IS - IN THE TEN DAYS OF REPENTANCE, and open up by the thirteen gates of mercy. Whoever extends his hand to swear BY HIS BEARD, it is as if he swears by the thirteen Corrections (formations) of the beard. That applies for Arich Anpin, WHICH COMPRISES THE THIRTEEN CORRECTIONS (FORMATIONS) OF THE BEARD. How many in Zeir Anpin? HOW MANY CORRECTIONS (FORMATIONS) EXIST IN HIS BEARD? RABBI SHIMON told Rabbi Yitzchak: Stand up in your place and trim the forms of the Holy King, ARICH ANPIN. How did they get established?
88. תָּאנָא בִּצְנִיעוּתָא דְּסִפְרָא, תְּלֵיסַר תִּקּוּנִין אִלֵּין דְּתַלְיָין בְּדִיקְנָא יַקִּירָא, בִּשְׁבִיעָאָה מִשְׁתַּכְּחֵי בְּעָלְמָא, וּמִתְפַּתְּחֵי בִּתְלֵיסָר תַּרְעֵי דְּרַחֲמֵי. וּמַאן דְּאוֹשִׁיט יְדֵיהּ לְאוּמָאָה, כְּמַאן דְּאוֹמֵי בִּתְלֵיסָר תִּקּוּנֵי דִּיקְנָא. הַאי בַּאֲרִיךְ אַפִּין. בִּזְעֵיר אַפִּין בְּכַמָּה. אָמַר לְרִבִּי יִצְחָק, קוּם בְּקִיּוּמָךְ, וְסַלְסֵל בְּסַלְסְלָא דְּתִקּוּנָא דְּמַלְכָּא קַדִּישָׁא הֵיאַךְ יִתְתַּקְּנוּן.
