"The righteous man flourishes like the palm tree"
Synopsis
Rabbi Shimon likens the righteous man to the palm tree, which grows slowly as both male and female for seventy years. Then he says that the righteous man is God, who returned to Babylon after seventy years of exile; that God is also the cedar in "He grows like a cedar in Lebanon;" and that Lebanon is the supernal Eden. Rabbi Shimon also speaks briefly about the time of redemption and the time when the world will be destroyed and rebuilt.
