A two-edged sword

Synopsis

The head Rabbis of the Yeshiva have descended with Rabbi Shimon and are addressing Moses. They speak about the verse, "The high praises of El are in their throats, and a two-edged sword in their hand." They tell Moses that he is the mouthpiece of the higher and lower Shechinah, with which God spoke to him mouth to mouth. For this reason, they tell him, Elijah has been delayed above and cannot come down because, while he would bring wealth, the poverty of Moses is a redemption for Yisrael. Moses replies that he releases him from his oath, and that they should all work to release Elijah so that he may descend to them.

398. As soon as THESE head Rabbis of the Yeshivas, who descended with the Holy Luminary, RABBI SHIMON, heard these things, they commenced to say TO MOSES, 'Faithful Shepherd, YOU ARE the mouthpiece of the higher and lower Shechinah, BEING BINAH AND MALCHUT, with which the Holy One, blessed be He, spoke to you, mouth to mouth, through the Sh'ma reading - as it is written, "The high praises of El are in their throats, and a two edged sword in their hand" (Tehilim 149:6) - as the Yud OF YUD HEI VAV HEI is the top of the sword surrounding your lip. The Vav OF YUD HEI VAV HEI is like the tongue of your sword. The two Hei's OF YUD HEI VAV HEI are two edges in your two lips. And surely the Name of your Master, BEING THE SHECHINAH, speaks through your mouth. Yud Vav Dalet, Hei Aleph, Vav Aleph Vav, Hei Aleph is in your thought, that produced these fifty GATES of BINAH from your mouth.

398. מִיַּד דְּשָׁמְעוּ מִלִּין אִלֵּין, מָארֵי מְתִיבְתָּאן דַּהֲווֹ נַחְתֵּי עִם בּוּצִינָא קַדִּישָׁא, פָּתְחוּ וְאָמְרוּ, רַעְיָא מְהֵימָנָא, פִּי שְׁכִינְתָּא עִלָּאָה וְתַתָּאָה, דִּבְתַרְוַויְיהוּ קוּדְשָׁא בְּרִיךְ הוּא פֶּה אֵל פֶּה מַלִּיל עִמָּךְ בִּק"ש, דְּאִתְּמַר בֵּיהּ, רוֹמְמוֹת אֵל בִּגְרוֹנָם וְחֶרֶב פִּיפִיּוֹת בְּיָדָם. דְּהָא וַדַּאי, י,' רֵישָׁא דְּחַרְבָּא, דְּאַסְחַר שָׂפָה דִּילָךְ. ו,' לִישָׁנָא דְּחַרְבָּא דִּילָךְ. ה,' ה,' תְּרֵין פִּיפִיּוֹת, בִּתְרֵין שִׂפְוָון דִּילָךְ. וְהָא וַדַּאי, שְׁמָא דְּמָרָךְ, מְמַלֵּל בְּפוּמָךְ. יוּ"ד הֵ"א וָא"ו הֵ"א, אִיהוּ בְּמַחֲשַׁבְתָּךְ דְּאַפִּיק אִלֵּין חַמְשִׁין מִפּוּמָךְ.

399. Surely for these reasons CITED ABOVE, THEIR ROOT IS TO PERFECT MALCHUT IN BINAH AND PLACE THEM SIDE BY SIDE, AND BECAUSE OF THIS Elijah has been delayed above, where he is confined, AS IN PRISON. 399. בְּוַדַּאי, בְּגִין מִלִּין אִלֵּין, אֵלִיָּהוּ אִתְעַכָּב לְעֵילָּא, דְּתָפִיס אִיהוּ. דְּלָא נָחִית לְגַבָּךְ, דְּהָא בְּכַמָּה עֻתְרָא הֲוָה נָחִית לְגַבָּךְ. וְאִיהוּ תָּפִיס לְעֵילָּא, דְּלָא נָחִית לְגַבָּךְ. בְּגִין דַּעֲנִיּוּתָא דִּילָךְ, אִיהוּ פָּרוֹקָא לְיִשְׂרָאֵל. וּבג"ד מָשִׁיחַ אָמַר, עַד דְּיֵיתֵי עָנִי, וְהַאי אִיהוּ דִּכְתִּיב וּבַחֲבוּרָתוֹ נִרְפָּא לָנוּ.

400. אָמַר לוֹן, אִי הָכִי, נַעְבִּד לֵיהּ הַתָּרָה, וִיהֵא נָחִית לְגַבָּאי, דְּחָשִׁיב הוּא גַּבָּאי, מִכָּל מָמוֹנָא דְּעָלְמָא. וְהָא אֲנָא מָחִיל וְשָׁרֵי לֵיהּ, וּמַתִּיר לֵיהּ אוֹמָאָה. וְאַתּוּן אוּף הָכִי שָׁרוּ לֵיהּ וְאִי צָרִיךְ הַתָּרָה יַתִּיר, נִשְׁתַּדֵּל בַּהַתָּרָתֵיהּ, דִּיהֵא נָחִית גַּבָּאי.
