"My offering, the provision of My sacrifices made by fire"

Synopsis

We are told that Yisrael offers the Torah to God, and the Torah is His bread and His wine and His meat; the Torah is holy flesh that descends from heaven. This explains the meaning of "My offering, the provision of My sacrifices made by fire."

761. It is said ABOUT MALCHUT: "a burnt offering to Hashem" (Bemidbar 28:11), "an offering to Hashem" (Vayikra 27:9), "a sacrifice made by fire to Hashem" (Bemidbar 28:6), and it is said: "My offering, the provision of My sacrifices made by fire" (Ibid. 2). And has it not already been written: Sacrifices must be offered to none other than Hashem? What, therefore, is the meaning of "My offering, the provision of My sacrifices made by (also: 'to') fire"? HE ANSWERS, one who offers a gift does so by custom for the king, and the king distributes it to whomever he pleases. Yisrael, likewise, offers the Torah, WHICH IS MALCHUT, to the Holy One, blessed be He, that is His bread and His wine and His meat. And it is said about it, ABOUT THE TORAH, WHICH IS MALCHUT, "bone of my bones, and flesh of my flesh" (Beresheet 2:23). And this is holy flesh, about which the head of the Yeshivah taught: We are talking about flesh that descends from heaven.

761. וְאִתְּמַר בָּהּ, עוֹלָה לַיְיָ', קָרְבָּן לַיְיָ', אִשֶּׁה לַיְיָ', וְאִתְּמַר אֶת קָרְבָּנִי לַחְמִי לְאִשַּׁי. וְהָא כְּתִיב דְּלֵית לְקָרְבָא קָרְבָּן אֶלָּא לַיְיָ', מַאי נִיהוּ, אֶת קָרְבָּנִי לַחְמִי לְאִשַּׁי. אֶלָּא אָרְחָא, דְּמַאן דְּקָרִיב דּוֹרוֹנָא, לְמִקְרַב לֵיהּ לְמַלְכָּא, וּלְבָתַר אִיהוּ פָּלִיג לֵיהּ, לְמַאן דְּבָעֵי. אוֹף הָכִי יִשְׂרָאֵל, מַקְרִיבִין אוֹרַיְיתָא לְקוּדְשָׁא בְּרִיךְ הוּא, דְּאִיהוּ לַחְמוֹ, וְאִיהוּ יֵינוֹ, וְאִיהוּ בָּשָׂר דִּילֵיהּ, וְאִתְּמַר בָּהּ, עֶצֶם מֵעֲצָמַי וּבָשָׂר מִבְּשָׂרִי. בְּשַׂר קֺדֶשׁ, דְּאוֹקְמוּהָ עָלָה מָארֵי מְתִיבְתָּאן, בְּבָשָׂר הַיוֹרֵד מִן הַשָּׁמַיִם עֲסְקֵינָן.
