408. "And Elohim created the great crocodiles" (Beresheet 1:21), refers to the Leviathan and its mate. THE VERSE CONTINUES "And every living creature (Heb. Nefesh) that creeps," which refers to the Nefesh of that living one that moves to all four corners of the world. HE ASKS: Who is this living one who creeps? AND REPLIES: It is Lilit.
409. The next phrase: "Which the waters brought forth abundantly, after their kind" means the waters make them grow, THE LEVIATHAN AND ITS MATE, because the waters are unfrozen and flow in all directions when the Southern wind comes. And the ships of the seas can now pass, as it is written: "There go the ships; there is that Leviathan, whom You have made to play therein" (Tehilim 104:26).
