380. He, too, began by quoting: "Hashem, my heart is not haughty, nor my eyes lofty" (Tehilim 131:1). David spoke this verse when he was walking on the bank of the river, and said, Master of the Universe, has there ever been a man in the world who gave thanks and praised his Master as I have? A frog chanced by and said to him, David, do not be proud, for I have achieved more than you, for I have sacrificed my body at my Master's command, as it is written: "and the river shall bring forth frogs in swarms" (Shemot 7:28). And this, indeed, is how it has been interpreted. And also, I give praises and sing day and night, without interruption. 380. אוֹף הוּא פָּתַח וְאָמַר, יְיָ' לֹא גָּבַהּ לִבִּי וְלֹא רָמוּ עֵינַי וְגוֹ,' הַאי קְרָא אָמַר דָּוִד, בְּשַׁעֲתָא דַּהֲוָה אָזִיל עַל כֵּיף נַהֲרָא, אָמַר רבש"ע, כְּלוּם הֲוָה ב"נ בְּעָלְמָא, דְּאוֹדֵי וּמְשַׁבַּח לְמָארֵיהּ כְּוָותִי. אִזְדַמְּנַת לֵיהּ צְפַרְדֵּעַ, א"ל, דָּוִד, לֹא תִּתְגָאֶה, דַּאֲנָא עֲבְדִית יַתִיר מִנָךְ, דְּמָסָרִית גּוּפָאי עַל מֵימְרָא דְּמָארִי, דִּכְתִיב וְשָׁרַץ הַיְאוֹר צְפַרְדְּעִים, וְהָא אוּקְמוּהָ. וְתוּ דַּאֲנָא מְשַׁבַּח וּמְזַמֵּר לֵילְיָא וְיוֹמָא, בְּלָא שְׁכִיכוּ. בְּהַהִיא שַׁעֲתָא אָמַר דָּוִד, יְיָ' לֹא גָּבַהּ לִבִּי וְלֹא רָמוּ עֵינַי. יְיָ' לֹא גָּבַהּ לִבִּי.
